“Can you color my hair with hair extensions in?”
Can we touch up your roots? Can we add highlights? Can we totally change your hair color?
It depends on what type of hair extensions you have. At Glo Extensions Denver Salon we offer a variety of different hair extensions made of 100% human hair which means they can be colored within reason.
Glo Extensions in Denver has over 2,000 possible color combinations, so we can create any hair color you want. We can also custom color your extensions before they are installed. However, once they are in place, we have to protect the integrity of your hair as well as your attachments. Remember these tips:
- If you want to change your base color, do it before your extensions go in
- We can custom color your extensions before they get installed, ordering a color that’s closest to what you want to limit the amount of change.
- Once extensions are in, we can touch up your new growth, but we should avoid anything too crazy.
- You an always add highlight, lowlights, or even pops of fashion color by adding in pre-colored extensions.
- To do an all over hair color, we can remove your extensions first, then reapply them after a color service.
We can combine hair color and hair extensions for a dramatic transformation.
Hair Color and Hand Tied Weft Extensions
Our hand tied wefts are 100% human hair of the highest quality. They come in pre-colored shades of natural shades, balayage and rooted looks too. You can easily get highlights and color touch-ups on your root hair growth. That’s not an issue at all and won’t affect your extensions. If you want to do an all over color process, including your extensions that’s possible too as long as you stay in the same shade range or go darker. It’s too hard to lighten hand tied weft extensions as it can damage the integrity of the hair. To color your hair after your weft extensions are in, we would have to remove your extensions, color your natural hair, and then reapply your wefts.
Hair Color and Fusion Hair Extensions
Fusion hair extensions are bonded to the root of the hair shaft with a keratinized protein bond. The type we offer at Glo are 100% human hair of the highest quality. This is real hair that already comes in 85 different color options.

Hair color and Tape-In Hair Extensions
For tape-in extensions, we use HairTalk Micro Strands, fashion shades, and even balayage colored hair extensions. The HairTalk brand come in over 100+ color selections, so you should have no problem choosing the color that is closest to your own. You can even blend multiple packs for over 1000 custom color combinations that are truly unique and stunning in everything from brilliant blondes to sparkling redheads and every color in between. Your roots can be re-touched with color during your extension wear time, but you probably don’t want to color these actual extensions because it may interfere with the adhesive tape used to attach each piece. To color your hair after your tape in extensions are in, we would have to remove your extensions, color your natural hair, and then reapply your tape ins.
Clip-in extensions add highlights or enhance your hair color
With Glo’s clip in extensions, there are tons of shades to choose from, so you shouldn’t have a problem matching your own hair color. You can just take them out to have your hair colored or highlighted. If you totally change your color, then you simply invest in new clip in extensions. Depending on how drastic of a color change, we may be able to custom color your clip ins.
